The Friends of Goat Lees (FOGL) surprised us with a pantomime for a Christmas treat. It was loud and lots of fun as we all got to dance the Macarena and some of us were even invited onto the stage.
As part of our work on sustainability, we had a pre-loved clothing sale. We had lots of donations - thank you - and some people snapped up a bargain or two. Our remaining clothing was donated to a local women's refuge and to Nourish and were greatfully accepted.
We had a great time fundraising for Children in Need. Our school councillors decided that every class should run a different activity so we would all be involved – this also helped us to gain our fundraising badge for Superkind. There was a lot to do during the day including a human fruit machine, pie the teacher, cake sale, guess the number of sweets in the jar and a gladiator style assault course. We raised £349 which for a small school is amazing! Thank you to everyone who sent in a donation.
Year R-2 were thrilled to have a visit from local author Phil Henry to read his story 'The Big Blue Blob.' The children enjoyed sharing the story and asking Phil about his process for writing as well as his future plans for more books. Some were even inspired to create their own blobs! We look forward to reading Phil's upcoming stories 'Keeper of the Realm' and 'Carrots of the Piratebeing' - illustrated by our very own Miss Chapman!
